10 Best Hip Hop Songs from the 1990s

They just don't make hip hop music like they used to, especially like they did during the 1990's. Back in the 90s hip hop music was like revolutionary poetry. Hip hop artists told real stories from the heart that had a social impact.

Today it just seems that every so-called hip hop artist thinks they are "The Greatest Rapper" alive, and they think that auto-tune can give their song an edge. They need to think again.

There are a few modern-day artists who keep the hip hop dream alive (like Mos Def, Common and Talib Kweli), but in my humble opinion, good hip hop is dead.

At least we have YouTube to remember these amazing hip hop songs from the 1990s:

1. A Tribe Called Quest - "Award Tour"

Album - Midnight Marauders

2. 2Pac - "All Eyez on Me"

Album - All Eyez on Me Book 2

3. Snoop Dogg ' "What's My Name?"

Album - Doggystyle

4. The Pharcyde - "Passin' Me By"

Album - Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde

5. Nas featuring Lauryn Hill - "If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)"

  1. I want to fight on behalf of Everyday People, or Mr.Wendell, Or Tennessee...but I won't. Arrested Developments sheer awesomeness makes it too hard to limit to just one song. But I shall go listen to them...Now.

  2. Yes, Arrested Development should have made the list. But it's hard to pick just 10 songs!
