I recently had the pleasure of going to see CSS in concert at Ramshead Live in Baltimore. I'm not talking about the CSS associated with web design. I'm talking about an awesome Brazilian rock band whose initials CSS mean "Cansei de Ser Sexy," which means "got tired of being sexy" in Portuguese.

Even though vampires seem to be the latest “monster” craze in pop culture today, we can’t forget about the always popular flesh-eating zombies. Zombie movies are a guilty pleasure for many film buffs because they’re both horrifying and hilarious at the same time. You can’t help but chuckle when you first see a horde of zombies awkwardly dragging themselves through the streets and moaning like they ate too much Mexican food.

I'm a big fan of movies and an even bigger fan of music, so it makes sense that I would be slightly obsessed with films that have a good movie soundtrack. Throughout the years I've heard some great songs featured in movies, but very rarely do I find an entire movie soundtrack of good music.

What's in a name? A name can say a lot about a person. It can describe a person's history, heritage, masculinity, femininity, personality and overall identity. However, the great thing about names is that we're not tied to them forever. We can choose nicknames, code names or secret undercover names to better suit our sense of self.

There are a few classic children's books that every child should read to learn a valuable lesson about life: The Giving Tree (personal sacrifice and love), The Lorax (save the environment), The Tale of Peter Rabbit (don't be rebellious) and Hansel and Gretel (don't get eaten by a witch).

We've all been in awkward situations. You know, those moments when you try not to look the other person in the eyes because you just did something completely embarrassing. Or maybe you smelled something raunchy coming from their general direction but you're too disgusted to speak. Basically, all you can do is hold your breath and wait for the moment to pass.

I've always been a fan of animation. In fact, one of my favorite shows of all time, Liquid Television, was a conglomeration of animated shorts by independent artists. The animated pieces remind of these 10 music videos, all of which feature great indie rock music.

They just don't make hip hop music like they used to, especially like they did during the 1990's. Back in the 90s hip hop music was like revolutionary poetry. Hip hop artists told real stories from the heart that had a social impact.

One of the biggest reasons why I love Netflix is because I can stream an endless supply of movies to my Xbox. I love a wide variety of movie genres, but my absolute favorite is the documentary film. Why? Because it's fascinating to see how many bizarre, obscene, heartfelt and thought-provoking TRUE stores are out there.

Nothing is more enjoyable on a hot summer day that having a nice cold beer. If you're like me, you probably go through quite a few beer bottles in any given week. Sometimes I get embarrassed that my recycling bin is filled with nothing but beer bottles, but then I get over it and grab another beer.

Sadly, the days of making mixed tapes and recording your favorite songs off the radio are over. Cassette tapes are a thing of the past. They've been taken over by mp3s and iTunes. You're lucky if you can even find a box of them at a thrift store or garage sale.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for nerds. Maybe it's because I like thick-rimmed glasses, bow ties and pocket protectors. Maybe it's because I'm a female nerd who loves to read books and has more than one computer monitor on my desk. I don't care what other people think: I'd choose an intelligent nerd over a dumb jock any day.

Even though traveling is fun, almost every hotel that you stay in has the same drab, boring appearance. They all have the same ugly paintings that hang on the same plain white walls. And of course, they're all made from the same standard building material.

I have to admit something: I can't whistle. I'm 30 years old and have never been able to whistle a day in my life. I think that's why I have this weird obsession with songs that feature whistling. Not only does whistling make the song sound cool, but it also gives it a human touch.

Despite how cool and convenient e-book readers are, I'm still a sucker for a good old fashioned paperback. There's just something special about holding a book in your hand and turning the pages. I guess not everyone shares in my enthusiasm for this because bookstores everywhere are going out of business.

As much as I enjoy modern-day video game consoles like the Wii, Xbox and PlayStation, nothing compares to the most awesome game console of them all: the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. I loved games like the original Super Mario Bros., Contra, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out and Castlevania.

It's always refreshing to discover artists who go "beyond the norm" to make artwork that is beautiful and unique. Instead of using traditional graffiti street art material like paint and spray cans, these two artists get a little more creative.
I was born in 1980, so I can't help but love everything about the decade. The big hair, the leg warmers, the L.A. Gear shoes, the jean jackets. Besides the awfully awesome style of the 80's, I would have to say that it's music was also so bad that it was good.

The year was 2001, and hip hop songs like "Ugly" by Bubba Sparxxx and "Area Codes" by Ludacris and Nate Dogg were steaming up the charts. But there was one MC that didn't need synthesized beats or pre-played tracks to show that he was king of hip hop that year. Jay Z boldly did what only a few hip hop artists like LL Cool J and A Tribe Called Quest had done before: he appeared on MTV Unplugged.
Oh the 80’s. It was a decade of cheesy synthesized pop music, slap bracelets, Aqua Net hairspray, jean jackets and cassette tapes. The Brat Packers ruled the movie theaters, Michael Jackson was so “Bad” he was good, and The ThunderCats kept kids glued to their T.V. sets.
